Connection Issues [SOLVED]

We are aware of connection issues at the present time and we are working on resolving them. We have identified the problem and apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will update this post again as soon as the issues have been resolved.


Update 11:39 GMT 10th Jun 2021 – Fix for Windows, Mac, iPad/iPhone & Android Users

We are pleased to tell you we now have a fix to the connection issues for Windows, Mac, iPad, iPhone & Android devices.  Please scroll down and follow the applicable steps to get your device/s connected.  If you are using a device thats not included in this email and you are still having conneciton issues please submit a support ticket and let us know what device/s you are using.


For Windows Devices:

Please try a different way to connect using our new WireGaurd conneciton instead: 

1. Download the WireGuard app for Windows from here >

2. Head over to your My Account area on our website here >, login and on your subscriptions page expand the tab that says WireGuard Configuration. Then click Copy Config.

3. Open the WireGuard app you downloaded and click on the down arrow where it says Add Tunnel, then Select Add empty tunnel…

4. For Name add WatchUKTVAbroad, leave Public key as it is.

Delete all the existing text in the configuration input box so it is left empty, so delete:
[Interface]
PrivateKey = xxxxxx 

5Right click in the empty input box and select Paste. Then click Save and if prompted Allow the configuration to be added.

You can now connect/disconnect to and from the VPN using the WireGuard app (select Activate/Deactivated to do so).  

You may also wish to pin the WireGuard app to your task bar in Windows to make connecting/disconnecting easier in future so you don’t have to find it in your Applications list each time.  To do this click on the Windows start button, find WireGuard in the Applications list, right click on it, select More and the select Pin to taskbar.  There will then be a new icon on your task bar (bottom of Windows) that looks a figure of 8 with a dragon head – that’s the WireGuard app you now need to use from now on – just click this icon and then click Activate to connect or Deactivate to disconnect.


For Mac Devices:

We have now fixed the issue with an App update. Please uninstall the app and reinstall the latest version by following the steps below:

  1. Very importantly make sure the software is not running – check to see if the small TV icon is present in menu bar area (top right of your screen). If its there click on it and select Quit WatchUKTVAbroad.

2. Go to your Applications folder, scroll down until you see WatchUKTVAbroad, right click on it and select Send to Trash to uninstall it.

3. Login to your My account area on our website here > Then click on setup on my device and then download and install the latest version of the app for Mac.

Please Note: If you have had previous versions of the Mac app installed you may have left over configuration files. When you connect please select the Connect UK option from the drop down list instead of Auto/Server 1,2,3,4 as these old configurations will no longer work.

Running on OSX 10.14 or higher? – There is also another option: 

If you have any problems using the app above you can also use our new WireGuard connection instead.  To do this please follow these steps:

1. Download the WireGuard app from the app store here >

2. Head over to your My Account area, login and on your subscriptions page expand the tab that says WireGuard Configuration.  Then click Copy Config.

3. Open the WireGuard app you downloaded from the app store and click on the + icon to the bottom left corner of the window, then select Add Empty Tunnel…

4. For Name add WatchUKTVAbroad, Leave the On-Demand Ethernet and Wifi check boxes unticked/empty.

Delete all the existing text in the configuration input box so it is left empty, so delete:
[Interface]
PrivateKey = xxxxxx 

5. Right click in the empty input box and select Paste.  Then click Save and when prompted Allow the configuration to be added.

You can now connect/disconnect to and from the VPN using the WireGuard app (select Activate/Deactivated to do so)


For iPhone/iPad Devices:

Instead of using OpenVPN you can now use our new App.  Download & Install our App from the App store here >

Then login to the app using your My Account login details to sync your subscription and connect to the UK connection to unblock UK content/apps or choose the US connection to unblock US content/apps.


For Android Devices:

Instead of using OpenVPN you can now use our new App.  Download & Install our App from the Google play store here >

Then login to the app using your My Account login details to sync your subscription and connect to the UK connection to unblock UK content/apps or choose the US connection to unblock US content/apps.
